LEE STORM

ABOUT LEE
Lee Storm was born in Texas after the end of World War II. He grew up in a small town in the middle of the “Oil Patch” of South Texas. He spent his early years hunting and spending almost every summer at Uncle Sleepy and Aunt Noni’s ranch in central Texas. “Those were really special days, just exploring the ranch with the San Saba River flowing through it. I never got tired of the wildlife, farm animals and the yarns of bygone days told by my aunt and uncle, and especially my grandmother’s stories about coming to Texas in a covered wagon.”
When his mother remarried after an ugly divorce, Lee and his stepfather became very close. They spent many weekends fishing off the coast of Corpus Christi and he developed a love for the sea and dreamed of a life of adventure. He even thought about moving to Alaska and homesteading after graduating from Texas Tech, but an early marriage got in the way of that dream.
Over the years Lee still managed to squeeze some adventure into his life. He fished in Alaska, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, explored the Outback of Australia, canoed through the Boundary Waters of Canada and spent years hunting Elk in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to compensate for his everyday life as a public servant in local government.
When Lee met and married the love of his life at the age of 45, she inspired him to tackle even more adventure. She had worked in the Dominican Republic as a young woman and was fascinated by the people sailing through the islands. Lee and ‘Carly’, as his readers know her, chartered boats in the British Virgin Islands and Grenadines and took sailing classes on the lakes of Colorado. Hurricane Lenny capped off their first sailing venture on their own when it slammed into the Grenadines. It was a devastating storm that came from inside the Caribbean Sea and hit the normally protected lee side of the islands, hence the pen name of this author.
On a whim the two stopped off at the Miami Boat Show after the trip to the Grenadines, undaunted, but much more aware of the risks of sailing. After hoping on and off a myriad of sailing craft displayed at the show they became captivated by a lovely French built 37' catamaran. “This is what I want.” Carly said with a grin. “Remember when our new friends from Mustique invited us over for dinner when Hurricane Lenny was raging and we were being tossed around. Their catamaran was so calm. Even the wine glasses didn’t tip over.” Before leaving the show the contract was signed and the dream began to take shape for real. The dream was sailing the Caribbean and escaping reality.
A year later, they quit their jobs, sold their house and stored their belongings to launch their dream adventure. They packed up all the new boating “toys” they had purchased at the Annapolis Boat show, bought a big dog crate for Maddie to travel in and flew to the British Virgin Islands to pick up their new catamaran from France.
After several years of sailing throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas, making new friends along the way, and storing up loads of fond memories, 9/11 struck during one of their visits back to the States. Like many people experienced, the portfolio they planned on to support their new lifestyle tanked. They sold the boat and went back to work to recover their losses. But the draw of the sea was just too much. Five years later they bought a 45' catamaran and sailed away for more adventures at sea.
The years they spent sailing in the Caribbean provided lots of experiences that have been blended with a vivid imagination to create the Mack and Carly Adventure Series. On a vacation to one of their favorite resorts in Jamaica, Lee pulled out his laptop and began to type. The story flowed from all the memories and a vivid imagination of what could have happened during their sailing adventures. This set Lee off on a new adventure of writing novels to inspire other wanna-be adventurers to take the plunge.
Today Mack and Carly are on a new adventure. They bought a 27’ Airstream travel trailer and are circumnavigating North America, Canada and Alaska in search of the ideal place to retire. Well, not really retire, but start a whole new phase of their amazing life together. Their new companion is a red haired mini Australian Labradoodle named Lucy. Who knows what tales this adventure may produce.
